Stater Bros delivers an average amount of items in their weekly advertisements. Typically somewhere around 120 to 140 items. Research tends to favor this amount of sale items as the value of each item on sale it typically very high. As with most grocery flyers, you can expect the best sales to be on the front page or the back page.

Quality of discounts - Rated 10 out of 10

Stater Bros has consistently delivered a high amount of quality sales from week to week. In a typical weekly circular that has 120 items, there are often 10 or more items that rate very high in value and sometimes above 40 that rate high (4 out of 5 stars) in discount value. In addition, the high value of the sales often does not require coupons which makes the ability to take advantage of the discounts even easier. Of the many grocery flyers researched, this has ranked among the highest in this category.

Coupon Advantage - Rated 5 out of 10

Stater Bros is not generally a big coupon grocery. Since they offer such great prices and sales in the first place, they often do not have additional store coupons provided. However, with additional searching, some manufacturer coupons can be applied adding some nice extra savings to the already low prices.

On a side note, Stater Brothers Markets has yet to implement an advanced online version of their weekly circular. Compared to other groceries, this is a significant disadvantage to web savvy customers. The current website only allows the customer to download a pdf version of the weekly flyer. Albertsons has one of the largest grocery fliers delivered in the mail. Counting on an individual item basis, there are often anywhere from 200 to 400 items advertised in a given week. Other competitive grocery fliers often will have 80 to 140 items. While on initial appearance this may sound like an advantage to the customer, it in fact dilutes the value of the sale items. For one thing it makes it much more difficult from week to week to find the sale items you really do not want to miss. In addition, there are often a number of sales that do not actually provide a great deal of savings. So in this case, the large amount of advertisement items may be a disadvantage for the customer.

While the large amount of sales can sometimes make it difficult to locate the greatest discounts available, research has discovered that Albertsons will provide, on average, a few more high quality discounts each week than its leading grocery competitors. While many competition may provide 3 or 4 highly rated discounts, Albertsons will often deliver 6 to 10 in a given weekly flier.

Albertsons consistently provides a high level of coupons from week to week. Coupons can be found within the weekly flier or even online at various coupon clipping sites.
